Final Syscoin 2.0 Beta2: Come Test-Drive our new features!

This is the final Syscoin 2.0 Beta2 testing phase of our long-awaited platform. With the Syscoin 2.0 platform, there are many major improvements to our original platform. You will be able to test out the following:

  • The first Blockchain-based fully decentralized Marketplace.
  • Encrypted Certificates/Encrypted Messages.
  • Aliases: Simplify your Syscoin address with an easy-to-use Alias; use your alias for all Syscoin 2 operations rather than a complicated address.
  • Certificate Issuance on the Blockchain.
  • An escrow service like no other; merchants and consumers alike can have peace-of-mind.
  • Sell certificates automatically via an offer.
  • The first fully Decentralized affiliate system via Reselling.
  • Images are now associated with offers! Just put a URL of an image in the offer description and people will see the image prior to purchasing your offer.
  • DirectBTC: A service that allows you to use Bitcoin to buy and sell services on our platform.
  • Decentralized Fiat/Bitcoin price pegging to Syscoin: You don’t need to think twice about the value of Syscoin, IE: Sell an item for $10 USD, get the Syscoin equivalent of $10 of value at the time of the sale. By default, you can use the price-pegging service that the Syscoin team has setup, or you can also use your own price-peg as well!
  • Send and receive Syscoin.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to take part and test out what we have in store!
Disclaimer: The Syscoin 2.0 Beta releases should only be used on our Testnet. tSYS (Testnet Syscoin) will be used to buy and sell items, tSYS has no value at all, it is simply a copy of Syscoin’s currency for testing purposes only.
Please make sure that you follow the instructions below, step-by-step, keeping old Syscoin configurations and installing 2.0 could result in data-corruption.

Windows 7 Instructions

Disclaimer: If you participated in Syscoin 2.0 Beta 1 already and/or have a Syscoin wallet installed on your computer, you must follow these instructions first:

  1. Make sure you backup your main net wallet.dat file in a safe location and then uninstall. You will not be able to simultaneously run a Syscoin wallet and the Syscoin 2.0 Beta wallet as the files from both wallets will conflict with each other.
  2. Delete all your current Syscoin files- both from your install folder (either with the uninstall.exe file if you installed the bootloader or by simply erasing the contents of the folder if you installed it via the ZIP file).
  3. Delete all files in the appdata/roaming/syscoin folder.
  4. If you were testing Syscoin 2.0 Beta 1 make sure you delete all Syscoin files and all appdata/roaming/syscoin files (including the wallet.dat you used for Beta 2).

Step 1: Add Syscoin.conf to your Syscoin Appdata folder:

Create a “syscoin” folder under appdata/roaming
newfolder

Copy this file: syscoin.conf to the appdata/roaming/syscoin folder.
syscoinfolder

Step 2: Download and install the latest Syscoin 2.0 Beta 2 Platform:

Download and unzip this ZIP file, copy it’s contents of the into a folder of your choice and run the Syscoin-Qt.exe file.

Mac OSX Installation:

  2. Delete all your current Syscoin files located in /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/Syscoin.

Step 1: Create Syscoin.conf

Create a “Syscoin” folder under /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/

  1. Open Finder.
  2. In Finder, using the Finder menu bar, select: Go, Go To Folder… , and type ~/Library and press the RETURN key.
  3. In Finder, navigate to the “Application Support” folder. You will see the Syscoin directory.
  4. Copy this file: syscoin.conf  to the ~/Library/Application Support/Syscoin folder.

Step 2: Download

Get the the latest beta wallet here and install!

Linux Installation

Disclaimer: If you already have a Syscoin wallet installed on your computer backup your wallet.dat file in a safe location and then uninstall. You will not be able to simultaneously run a Syscoin wallet and a Shade Beta Test Wallet as the files from both wallets will conflict with each other.
The source code can be found here.
Please use the following configuration: syscoin.conf

Get Some Testnet Syscoin!

While testing the beta release of Syscoin 2.0, we are currently running tests on a “testnet” and not using real Syscoin to pay for items and fees. There are currently two ways to get some Tsys (Testnet Syscoin):
Mine it!:
When your wallet has synced, go to your “help” menu and select the “debug window” option.

debug1

In the debug window, click on the “console” tab and type “setgenerate true 1” (without the quotes) and press <ENTER>.

This will allow you to mine Tsys with one core of your computer’s CPU.

Ask for it!:
Simply send me an e-mail with your Tsys address to sebastien@syscoin.org and I’ll send you some Tsys to play with within 24-48 hours.
